Question: I am a 26 year old male. I have lived my life with a terrible perspiration problem, my underarms are the worst! I have read that Botox injections can help reduce the sweating in this area. How much would I need to have injected, and how often?

Answer: Botox is an excellent treatment option to control excessive under arm perspiration or hyperhidrosis. It is injected more superficially than for frown lines or forehead lines. For most patients, a vial of Botox or 100 units for both underarms will be enough. It should last 6-8 months with great effectiveness.

I read recently that Botox can be used to treat excessive sweating. How effective is it as a treatment, and does your office offer these services?

Using botox can treat sweaty under arms or axillary hyperhidrosis. Approximately 50 units of botox are used under each arm. The technique is very effective and lasts up to 6-9 months. It takes about 15 minutes to perform this procedure at our center with minimal discomfort.
