Question: I recently saw on TV that Kim Kardashian had a terrible allergic reaction to her Botox injection. Her eye was inflamed and turned black and blue. Is this normal?

Answer: That is not a common response to botox injections. Botox has been in use for many years and has a very good safety record. There are risks such as bruising, headache, and flu like symptoms. Most patients do very well without any complications.

Question: All celebrities these days are ranting and raving about their Botox injections. How will Botox make me look younger?

Answer: Botox works well for motion related or dynamic facial lines. The most common areas on the face for botox injections are between the brows (frown lines), forehead (horizontal lines) and outside of the eyes (crow’s feet) lines. It may make you look younger by helping you to have less facial lines when in motion.

Question: How effective is Botox for treating brow furrows? I am trying to decide between using something temporary like Botox, or going for a more permanent treatment such as a forehead or brow lift. How long would each injection last?

Answer: Botox works by disrupting muscles’ ability to communicate with one another. This has a relaxing/smoothing effect on the overlying skin. It is an excellent way to improve lines on the forehead and around your eyes. A brow lift, on the other hand, is performed to lift and reposition the brow. It is not a good method to treat lines on your forehead. The lines will return as long as you have intact muscles in your forehead.

Question: Can Botox be used as a sort of browlift to open up the eyes?

Answer: This is very much-misunderstood topic of botox injections. Botox relaxes muscles by disrupting muscles' ability to communicate with one another. The so-called 'lifting' effect is achieved by a compensatory action of the muscles that are not injected with botox. The best way to have a 'brow lift' with botox is by injecting botox to the central regions of the forehead in key areas.
