Midfacelift (Cheeklift) Plastic Surgery
Kyle S. Choe, MD Facial Plastic Surgeon, Virginia Beach, VA

We begin to see those age-related changes in the mid-face during our thirties. You may notice your eyes look hollow and your cheeks are looking sunken. Marionette lines start to become deeper as nasolabial folds become more noticeable. You may develop an angry look as the muscle between your eyes changes. Overall – you’re not happy with what you see when you look into the mirror. You’re not ready for those premature signs of aging – which are most noticeable in the face first. If you want to address these issues - without having a full-blown facelift – a mid-facelift may be the right choice for you.

Benefits of MidFaceLift Facial Plastic Surgery:

  • Mid-FaceLift is safe, effective and subtle
  • Mid-FaceLift targets specific areas of concern
  • Mid-FaceLift results are more permanent than injectable's
  • Mid-FaceLift restores a more refreshed – rejuvenated look!

MidFace Lift Frequently Asked Questions:

Should I have a Mid-FaceLift or a FaceLift? If you are mainly concerned about the changes in your mid-face and don’t want the downtime experienced with a full-blown facelift – you should consider a Mid-FaceLift. The beauty of a Mid-FaceLift is that it allows us to “target” specific areas of concern with less healing and downtime.

How long will I be out of work? You should be presentable to return to work within 2-3 weeks – even if you combine your Mid-FaceLift with an Endo BrowLift which most of our clients like to do for maximum overall results.

Is there much pain with a Mid-FaceLift? No. You will experience some “discomfort” rather than pain. This is easily managed with oral pain medication and elevation of the head.

Can I combine other facial procedures with a Mid-FaceLift? Yes. Patients usually combine an EndoBrowlift and Cheek Implants or injectable's with a Mid-FaceLift.

Why is there less bruising and healing time with a Mid-FaceLift? Dr. Choe will make “smaller incisions” (endoscopically) and less muscle tightening is done – less tissue is disturbed – so bruising is much less and healing can occur faster.

MidFaceLift Facial Plastic Surgery Pre-Operative Instructions:

  1. You must not take aspirin, aspirin containing products, ibuprofen and herbal medicines for 2 weeks prior to your surgery.
  2. Do not use cigarettes or nicotine products for 4 weeks prior to your surgery and for 10 days after surgery.
  3. Do not use alcohol for 1 week prior to your surgery.
  4. Do no eat or drink after midnight the night before your surgery.
  5. A responsible adult must drive you to your surgery, drive you home and stay with you for 24 hours after your surgery.

MidFaceLift Facial Plastic Surgery Procedure Overview:.

You will be given IV sedation and local anesthetic, so you will be asleep and not feel or hear anything. A small 4 mm endoscope inserted near the temple region is used to do all the delicate work. After surgery is complete – drains may be inserted and a soft, bulky head wrap dressing will be used to protect your surgery.

Post MidFaceLift Surgery Instructions:

  • You must rest in bed for 1 day after your surgery.
  • Sleep on 2-3 pillows for 2-3 weeks after your surgery.
  • Take your medications as directed.
  • Avoid all strenuous activity such as lifting, bending, straining, etc.
  • Keep your head dressing dry and intact until Dr. Choe tells you otherwise
  • Perform your wound care daily as instructed.

When considering any facial plastic surgical procedure – remember that Board Certified surgeons are the most skilled and qualified. Dr. Choe is a board certified facial plastic surgeon, certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
