Lip Augmentation in Virginia Beach

Full and well-defined lips can brighten your appearance. However, as you age, your lips may lose volume, appear thinner, and fade in color. The corners can also droop, creating a tired look.

At The Choe Center for Facial Plastic Surgery, our lip augmentation treatments are designed to reverse the signs of aging and enhance your natural beauty. Rather than focusing on the lips alone, Dr. Choe will examine your entire facial structure to ensure that the results of your treatment look natural and balanced.

There are various ways you can enhance the appearance of your lips. The most common options include injectable fillers, fat transfer, and lip lift surgery. Some clients may also combine procedures, such as a lip lift with fillers, to enhance the results.

Lip Fillers

When the red part of the lips starts to thin, it creates a volume deficit, affecting overall appearance. To address this, lip filler injections containing hyaluronic acid are used to plump the lips and stimulate natural collagen production around the target areas.

At The Choe Center, we offer a range of lip filler options, including Juvederm, Juvederm Volbella, and Restylane Kysse, to enhance lip fullness and improve elasticity.

Fat Transfer to Lips

Fat transfer to lips is a natural lip enhancement option that uses your body’s fat to restore volume and achieve a youthful appearance.

Since it involves harvesting fat from a donor site such as the thighs or abdomen, it is rarely performed as a stand-alone procedure. It is ideal for patients already undergoing fat transfer as part of another procedure, such as facial rejuvenation.

Lip Lift

As we age, the skin between the bottom of the nose and the vermilion border (the edge of the lip) can lengthen, altering your facial structure. Ideally, this distance should be about 1.5 cm. When it becomes longer, fillers may no longer address the problem.

Luckily, a lip lift can shorten the distance between the nose and the upper lip, effectively lifting the lip. The procedure is ideal for patients in their 40s to 60s, as it addresses the structural changes that occur with age. Moreover, it is relatively quick (taking around 1 hour) and is performed under local anesthesia in the office. Most patients resume light activities within a week.

During a lip lift in Virginia Beach, Dr. Choe will make small incisions under the nose to make them less visible. For those seeking additional volume in their lips, we’ll combine a lip lift with fillers to make them fuller and more defined.

Virginia Beach Lip Augmentation FAQS

The specific purpose of a lip augmentation surgery is to restore fullness to your lips. Most of our patients choose our med spa skin care treatment options, such as laser skin resurfacing, to deal with those surface wrinkles.
Unfortunately, a lip augmentation is not the surgery you seek. For your aesthetic goals, we would use a lip reduction surgery to make your lips smaller.
After a lip augmentation, you will see a large amount of swelling, which starts to go away within the first week. Swelling and bruising are normal, along with puffiness – it takes 2-4 weeks to completely return to normal. You will be able to use camouflage makeup. We recommend Jane Iredale mineral makeup, which actually helps promote healing, and it covers beautifully.
You will be looking presentable and be able to return to work within 7-10 days.
Usually, the lip augmentation surgery takes around 1 hour. This depends upon the amount of change you want and if you are combining your lip surgery with another procedure, such as a Necklift, Chin Implant, or Pre-Jowl surgery. Many patients choose to combine in order to get it done and to experience the most satisfying overall results.
No. You will experience discomfort from the swelling and bruising after a lip augmentation, but this will be easily managed with oral pain medication. It decreases daily, so you will return to normal within a couple of days.
