I have deep “marionette” lines in my face. Would receiving an injectable filler help to eliminate/reduce their appearance? What would be the best filler in this case?

Injectable fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane, or Radiesse can be used to soften the depth of these facial lines and improve their overall appearance. There are subtle differences in the chemical make-up between them and cost varies as well. For really deep marionette lines, I perform a ‘layered-technique’. This involves using a hardier calcium-based Radiesse deeper into the lines and ‘softer’ hyuronic acid based filler such as Juvederm or Restylane more superficially. The idea behind it is that Radiesse will act as a ‘tissue stabilizer’ or ‘foundation’ in the deeper dermis/subcutaneous layer while Juvederm will fill the more superficial lines. There are patients where the depth of marionette lines is contributed by the sagging cheek skin. In these instances, I would recommend a lifting procedure to further enhance the overall appearance in this area.
